IN PROGRESS: Single Body as Armature

So I started work on my larger project for a single body as armature. I'm making a piece based off the lyrics "I'm a fountain of blood/In the shape of a girl." Basically, I'm running a series of tubes, like veins, up my body. I'm sewing them on to a white unitard and literally turning myself into a fountain of "blood."

I also got a bit silly and decided to drink some soda through the tubes...at least I know it works. I didn't really have to suck all that hard either.

QUICKIE #3: Make a quickie that enhances the function of the body or a body part.

Soft light or a veil can enhance something and make it more mysterious and appealing. Veils place the viewer in another space, which makes whatever is being covered unattainable and idealized from the outside vantage point.

SHORT STUDY: Roots

We were each given about a yard of muslin and had to transform our body somehow with the material we had. We were allowed to add support so that our work would have a more structural quality. Using the muslin and picture hanging wire, I made myself roots.

QUICKIE #2: Make a Quickie That Alters or Reveals the Wearer's Identity

Scars reveal the location where a person was once cut deeply and has healed slowly over time. They identify a physical struggle which the body had to face. Every scar has its own story, but sometimes scars are the mark of membership to a specific group of people.

QUICKIE #1: Make a quickie that alters a body part to become "ideal" or to become non-ideal.

Just for fun I'm going to include pictures of me enjoying the caramel smeared all over my face...
